our projects

Mtoni has been instrumental in the development of key aquaculture facilities, including the Milkfish Hatchery at Kwetu’s Centre for Sustainable Development funded by GIZ’s Go-Blue Project, and development of Kenya’s National Mariculture Resource and Training (NAMARET) Centre funded by the World Bank.

Another notable achievement is our collaboration with CSIRO and DFAT Australia which enabled the establishment of Kenya’s first successful prawn hatchery, demonstrating the economic viability of community-based hatchery models and promoting sustainable farming practices.

These and other partnerships have facilitated the creation of strategic mariculture development plans, adherence to environmental regulations, and engagement with local communities, ensuring long-term project sustainability and sector-wide transformation. Consequently, Mtoni is now the leader in delivering projects that significantly enhance Kenya’s aquaculture capacity.
